Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has said that his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has recorded feats that made coast clearer for it in its bid to win Kwara State in 2027 election.
Saraki who is the state leader of the PDP the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike identified with said candidates of the PDP have all been uploaded to the portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) while the party in the state has had its support base expanded with defection of politicians from some other parties into its fold.
The politician, according to a statement, spoke during separate meetings with the PDP stakeholders from Kwara North and Kwara South Senatorial Districts, where he also urged members to remain united ahead of the polls.
The statement issued by Saraki’s Press Officer on Local Matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, the meetings were attended by the PDP governorship candidate, Engr. Suleiman Bolakale Kawu, his running mate, Rev. C.O.S. Fawenu, National Assembly candidates from the two districts, members of the State Working Committee, party elders and other stakeholders.
The former Senate President described the uploading of the PDP candidates in the INEC as a major milestone in the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.
“As I assured our members earlier, all our candidates have now been successfully uploaded to the INEC portal. This marks another important step in our preparations for the 2027 elections,” he said.
Saraki commended members for remaining patient and steadfast throughout the nomination process, noting that the party had overcome another crucial stage in its journey towards the next general election.
The PDP leader while saying that there has been increasing defection into the party across Kwara North and Kwara South, described the development as reflecting the desire of people of the state for bettter governance.
“What gives me even greater confidence is what is happening across both senatorial districts, where people are joining the PDP in droves because they see our great party as the only credible alternative for good governance,” he stated.
Saraki who is also a former governor of Kwara State urged party leaders and supporters to sustain the unity that has kept the PDP together in the state, warning against allowing personal interests to overshadow the party’s collective goal.
“As our numbers grow, so does our responsibility to remain one family. I appealed to our leaders and supporters to accommodate one another and place the collective interest of the party above personal ambition. Our unity and discipline remain our greatest strengths,” he said.
The politician assured members the PDP of his continued support for all candidates of the party, expressing confidence that the party could emerge victorious if it remained focused and united.
“For my part, I will continue to give our party and our candidates all the support they require. With unity, commitment and hard work, victory is within our reach,” he stated
In their separate remarks, stakeholders from Kwara North and Kwara South reaffirmed their confidence in Saraki’s leadership and pledged to intensify grassroots mobilisation across their communities, while expressing optimism that the PDP would reclaim power in the state in the 2027 elections.
