A farmer in Isanlu-Isin in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State has been confirmed killed around his farm in Owa-Onire in the same local government area.
The farmer, Abdulazeez Abiodun Garba was confirmed killed after his daughter, Rofiat, had disclosed his death.
The daughter in a statement posted on internet where she was pleading for justice narrated how they found out that the man has been killed after he had left home for farm.
She said that her father whom she described as being popularity known as “Kebe” left his home, last weekend, in Isanlu-Isin for his cocoa farm in Owa-Orire on his motorcycle.
She said since the farm is about 2 hours always the family had expected the man to return home later in the day.
The daughter said when her father did not return at when he was expected to have returned the family engaged local hunters to help them in a search for him.
She said when the search team got to the farm and saw the man’s bike at where he parked it but without seeing the man an impression was created that he had been kidnapped unti the hunters searched far more into the bush and discovered his lifeless body.
Rofiat disclosed that the search team met his father tied in his two hands and brutally killed.
The state police command while confirming that the farmer was killed by suspects yet to be identified said that his lifeless body was found with deep machete wounds.
The command in the statement signed by its spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said no arrest had yet been made in connection with the killing.
The statement said that the state police commissioner, Adekimi Ojo, while condemning the killing had directed deployment of investigative and intelligence assets towards identifying and apprehending the those who carried out the killing
The statement reads: “The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Ojo Adekimi, has ordered a comprehensive and discreet investigation into the gruesome murder of a farmer, Mr Azeez Garba, whose lifeless body was discovered on his farmland along the Owa-Onire axis, a boundary between Isanlu-Isin and Owu-Isin in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State.
“The Commissioner of Police, who described the killing as cruel, senseless, and unacceptable, strongly condemned the act and directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to immediately deploy all available investigative and intelligence assets towards identifying, tracking, and apprehending those responsible.
“Preliminary findings reveal that the deceased had gone to his farm in the morning but failed to return home, prompting family members and local vigilantes to launch a search. His motorcycle was later found parked at the farm, while his lifeless body was subsequently discovered a short distance away with deep machete wounds.
“While no arrest has been made as of the time of this release, the Command wishes to assure the bereaved family, the people of Isin Local Government Area, and the general public that every available lead is being diligently pursued. Investigators are working assiduously to unravel the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident and ensure that all those connected with this heinous crime are identified and brought to justice.
“The Kwara State Police Command remains unwavering in its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the State and will not relent until every person responsible for this reprehensible act is brought before the law.”
