Kwara Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has generated for the country a total revenue of ₦7,978,338,031.21 since July this year.
The Acting controller of the command, Najeem Ogundeyi, who made this disclosure when briefing newsmen about accomplishment of the command since July said the revenue was generated through excise activities.
He said the revenue indicated commitment of the command to ensuring that the government realises its due revenue from excise.
“This milestone demonstrates our commitment to maximizing revenue for the Federal Government while maintaining a balanced operational focus on trade facilitation and national security,” he stated.
Ogundeyi disclosed that during the period under review the command made seizure of numerous contrabands that include vehicles, food items, clothes, drugs and premium motor spirit (petrol).
He said the goods seized at different axes of the operational corridors of the command are of total combined Duty Paid Value (DPV) of ₦604,333,59
The customs boss said 80 bales and Six sacks of Used Clothes worth ₦32,300,000.00 were intercepted along the Ogbomoso/Jebba axis
He disclosed that 2. 6,875 Litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) of ₦2,750,000.00 worth was intercepted along the Bukuro/Okuta/Chikanda axis while
3. 3,396 Packets of Tramadol (100mg that worth ₦50,946,000.00 was intercepted along the Okuta axis
The customs boss said while 14 bags of Basmati Rice (5kg each) of ₦350,000.00 worth were intercepted along the Bode-saadu Expressway 5. 6,705 Cartons of Foreign Spaghetti that worth ₦201,150,000.00 were intercepted along the Bode-Saadu axis
He said 6. 270 Bags of Foreign Parboiled Rice (50kg each) of ₦25,245,000.00 worth were intercepted across various locations
Ogundeyi disclosed that a Toyota Highlander (2025 Model) of ₦214,000,000.00 worth was intercepted along Bode-saadu Expressway
He said one Dodge Charger SXT (2018 Model) of ₦77,592,592.00 of DPV was intercepted Lagos/Kwara highway Eyankorin
The customs boss who said that achievements of the command were rooted in intelligence-led operations commended the Intelligence Unit, Customs Police Unit and all the personnel of the command.
He also appreciated sister security agencies for their cooperation with the command saying,”Trans-border crime cannot be fought in isolation; inter-agency cooperation remains central to our tactical execution.”
