Security operatives have rescued two kidnap victims in Aboki community of Kaiama local government of Kwara State.

The rescue was achieved after the security agents eliminated four of five bandits that kidnapped the victims.

The rescued kidnap victims one of whom is identified as Alhaji Tukur were reportedly abducted on Tuesday night when the bandits struck at the community. 

The security agents which comprises military personnel and local vigilante men came to the rescue of the victims as they were mobilised immediately after the kidnapping was received reported.

A source from the Aboki community said that the the two victims were rescued without injuries.

The source added that the fifth bandit who was not killed escaped with gunshot injuries.

“Five armed bandits attacked the community to kidnap people. They even took one Alhaji Tukur, but the security agents were able to neutralize four of the bandits, while one of them escaped with gunshot injuries. Alhaji Tukur and another victim were freed without injuries,” the source said. 

The security forces have significantly scaled up response time as government doubles down in the anti-kidnapping campaign nationwide. 

The development comes as a new army battalion has been approved for Omu Aran, a strategic step to strengthen the campaign against terrorism and banditry in the region.
