South-West Coordinator of the Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement (GHSM), Abass Olaniyi, has said that the movement was working towards securing more than three million votes for the Accord Party’s presidential candidate, Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, across the South-West in the 2027 general election with about one-third of the votes to come from Osun State.

He said that the movement was targeting more than 1million votes from Osun, the only state where the Accord is a ruling party in the country despite that the state governor, Ademola Adeleke, has decided to support presidential candidate of another party, Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Adeleke who recently won his second term governorship election in the state on the platform of the Accord had said before the election that he would be supporting Tinubu at the presidential election, a promise many believed was induced by an understanding that Tinubu would not work against him at the governorship election.

The governor who openly commended Tinubu after his victory at the election has been included in the presidential campaign council of Tinubu and made a  coordinator of the council in Osun State

Olaniyi said the projection of over 3million votes reflected the movement’s internal assessment of its grassroots mobilisation prospects across the South West zone.

He disclosed that the movement was planing to deliver combined votes of 1million from Lagos and Oyo, the two most populous states in the zone.

He said the movement would be seeking from the three remaining  states of Ogun, Ondo and Ekiti the remaining votes needed to reach the target of more than three million votes in the zone.

The GHSM coordinator expressed confidence in the movement’s ability to expand its grassroots presence through engagement with community leaders, youth groups, political stakeholders and local organisations across the six South-West states.

The movement said it intended to translate its regional mobilisation efforts into measurable electoral support for Olawepo-Hashim and the Accord Party.
