Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, will vie for the seat of Kwara Central Senatorial District with 10 other candidates at the 2027 general election.
This became known as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) released list of candidates for the Senatorial election.
The list shows that 11candidates will contest the seat among whom is the governor who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The list also includes the incumbent senator from the district, Saliu Mustapha, who recently left the APC for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
He is the candidate of the PDP, the main opposition party at present which was a former ruling party in the state.
Mustapha who enjoys popularity in the district is seen as the major opponent of Abdulrazaq in the upcoming election.
Other candidates in the INEC’s list include Adesola Kehinde of the Action Alliance (AA), Gani Omolabi of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Gbadesogun Olufemi Adeleke of the African Peoples Party (APP), and Abdullahi Risikat Motunrayo of the African Democratic Congress (ADC),
Others Anjorin John Temitayo of the Action Peoples Movement (APM), Abdulkarim-Adisa Maryam Ayoola-Fadekemi of the Labour Party (LP), Adefolu Adekunle of the National Rescue Movement (NRM), Lawal Abdulhakeem Toyin of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), and Suleiman Abdulrasheed Olufemi Omoda of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
